2017 (World Percussion – Elementary/Middle School)
Tracy Leslie is the music teacher at North Calloway Elementary School in Murray, Ky. She is an active clinician, having led presentations at KMEA, GMEA and OMEA. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in music education from Murray State University. She is certified in Orff-Schulwerk and is currently learning the philosophy of World Music Drumming. She is the KMEA 2013 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Along with teaching K-5 learners, Tracy has taught as adjunct at Murray State and WKCTC. She regularly supervises student teachers and practicum students. She has three extracurricular music programs: “MSU Strings at North”, where college string students teach violin to students in grades 2 thru 5; MANIA (Music at North in Action), a percussion ensemble of 4th and 5th grade students; and, SOS (Sing Out Singers), an auditioned choir of 4th and 5th grade students.
Tracy is an active musician on piano, percussion and cello. She performs with various ensembles and is a free-lance musician.
