Ms. Ward is a graduate of Muhlenberg County High School where she studied under instructor Rick Gardner. As an alumnus of the Kentucky Governors School for the Arts, she spent two summers with the program as a Discipline Assistant for the Instrumental Music Discipline. Ms. Ward has worked with band programs at Muhlenberg County, Scott County, McClean County, Madison Southern and Corbin high schools. Ms. Ward has previously been a clinician and performer at the WKYPF from 2015 to 2019.
Ms. Ward attained undergraduate degrees in Music Performance with a concentration in percussion with direct instruction from Jason Koontz and Music Education from Eastern Kentucky University, from which she graduated in May of 2019. During her studies, she was a member of many university ensembles such as Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Steel Band, Percussion Ensemble, Marching Colonels, and Maroon Machine Pep Band. Throughout her time at EKU she was a member of the Dean’s and President’s lists, and served the national fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota, as the Eta Sigma chapter treasurer and then president. Ms. Ward has performed in other states of the country, and competed internationally with Birdsong in Panorama 2016 during Carnaval in Trinidad and Tobago. She also competed with Laborie Steel Pan in the St. Lucia Panorama in the summer of 2016 where the group was able to win the national panorama champion title. While in her undergraduate program, she participated in the KMEA intercollegiate band 3 of her four years at the university. She performed with the EKU Symphonic Band at KMEA Conference 2019. She competed in and won the concerto competition in 2018 and performed Emmanuel Sejourne’s Concerto for Marimba with the EKU Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Ward received her master’s degree in Music Performance with a concentration in Percussion from Eastern Kentucky University, where she studied with Dr. Jason Koontz.
Starting in the Fall of 2021 Ms. Ward is DMA – Teaching Assistant at the University of Arizona.
