Jordan Smith teaches preschool through 8th grade music at Saint James School as well as percussion ensemble, Orff ensemble, modern band, and choir. She founded and directs Etown Beats, a K-5 lesson based community music ensemble in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She works as a percussion instructor, composer, and private lessons teacher to various middle schools and high schools in the surrounding area.
She served as the Director of Percussion for Central Hardin High School from 2011-2019. From 2016-2018 she directed the Elizabethtown branch of the steel drum academy Steel Appeal for ages K-5. She participated in WGI (Winter Guard International) as a front ensemble member of Tates Creek Indoor Percussion Ensemble from 2009-2011.Currently she plays percussion and keyboard in two indie-rock bands called GEMMA, and Inglenook.
In the summer of 2021 she attended her first “Modern Band 101” workshop with “Little Kids Rock”. Shortly after being inspired from this workshop she started a modern band program at Saint James Catholic School.
Jordan earned her Bachelor’s in Music Education from Campbellsville University. She has completed Orff-Schulwerk levels I and II at the University of Kentucky and has been published in The Orff Echo.
She currently serves as the 4th-District Elementary music chair for the Kentucky Music Educators Association. In 2021 she was the recipient for the“4th District Elementary Music Teacher of the Year. She is an active member of the Kentucky Orff-Schulwerk Association, where she currently serves on the board as the social media chair.
