Aaron Klausing is the Assistant Band Director and Director of Percussion Studies at Owensboro High School and also assists with instruction at Owensboro Middle School. Since joining the Owensboro Public School system in 2011, Mr. Klausing has helped lead the OHS program to grow in number and quality. In 2011, Mr. Klausing founded a steel drum group called Red Steel and has created a yearly spring percussion concert that brings creative staging, imaginative arrangements, and a variety of art forms together in a popular stage show. Mr. Klausing is passionate about the inclusion of any individual interested in playing music. He assists with sixth through eighth grade bands and teaches marching band, percussion ensemble, steel drums, and concert band at the high school. His steel drum group, Red Steel, and his concert percussion ensemble have played at the Kentucky Music Educators Association convention in 2014 and 2016.

Prior to his time with Owensboro Public Schools, Mr. Klausing assisted with the world-famous Louisville Leopard Percussionists as a teacher, composer, and arranger. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha, KMEA, PAS, MENC and was KMEA District 2 Teacher of the Year in 2016 and 2021, Valvoline Teacher of the Year finalist, and 2022 Heart of the Arts recipient. In his free time, he loves spending time with his wife, Kelly Klausing, and two sons Connor and Milo.
