Randy Adams (Madisonville, KY) retired in May of 2024 after 28 years of teaching instrumental music at Madisonville North Hopkins High School. Browning Springs MS, and James Madison MS. He received his BME (’96) and MME (’06) from Murray State University. While at Madisonville North Hopkins, the marching band achieved 20 appearances at the KMEA State Marching Band Finals, including 10 state championships from 2005 to 2014, and the concert bands received numerous Distinguished Ratings at KMEA Concert Band Assessments. During his tenure, the band traveled and performed at many prestigious contests and events. Including the New York Wind Band Festival in 2012 at prestigious Carnegie Hall. The marching band was also a Sudler Shield Award finalist in 2013 and 2014. Mr. Adams has been included in Who’s Who Among American Teachers and National Honor Roll’s Outstanding American Teachers publications. In 2012, Mr. Adams received a Certificate of Merit for Marching Excellence from the National Band Association and was named the Madisonville Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Teacher in 2015. He is a member of National Band Association, Kentucky Music Educators Association, NAfME, Kentucky Education Association, Phi Beta Mu Bandmasters Fraternity, Percussive Arts Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Professional Music Fraternity. He continues to be an active clinician, adjudicator, performer, consultant, and private teacher.
