2017 Timpani Clinic
Shane Melvin is a free-lance music educator and performer serving the Western Kentucky area. In addition to frequent performances with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Melvin is currently employed at Graves County High School; Graves County Middle School; Murray High School; Murray Middle School; and Lone Oak Middle School. He works with all facets of these programs, including the marching band, jazz band, pep band, concert band, and percussion ensembles. Furthermore, Mr. Melvin offers private instruction and participates as an adjudicator for solo & ensemble festivals and marching band contests. He has instructed at other schools throughout Kentucky as well. His students and ensembles frequently earn top honors, including selections to All-State and All-District bands, as well as numerous Distinguished Ratings at solo & ensemble festivals. Most recently, the Graves County High School percussion ensemble was chosen to perform at the 2017 KMEA state convention.
In 2010, serving alongside Mr. Josh Powell, Shane helped the Marshall County High School indoor drumline win 1st Place in Scholastic A class on the SCGC circuit. In 2009, Shane received his Bachelor’s of Music Education degree from Murray State University (Murray, KY). Since 2013, he has served as an instructor for his alma mater’s prestigious marching band, the Murray State University Racer Band.
